Visualization Specialty in the Architecture Ph.D. Program The doctoral program in Architecture focuses primarily on research and the development and dissemination of new knowledge. The doctoral curriculum responds to the needs of students who wish to pursue careers in research and teaching. Although students typically have a background in environmental design or architecture, other backgrounds may be appropriate. The program leading to the Ph.D. enables students of exceptional ability to undertake advanced study and original research. Students entering this program must complete 64 hours beyond a master's degree, including the research dissertation. Students without a previous graduate degree may pursue a 96 credit hour program.
The Ph.D. program has expanded to focus within a broad range of identified emphasis areas. Applicants are invited to inquire about topics outside of these emphasis areas provided they can identify a core of available faculty, support resources, and submit a clearly defined plan of study. The Visualization Laboratory and the Visualization Faculty are supporting resorces for Visualization Specialization within the Architecture Ph.D. program. The Architecture Ph.D. program typically has about 40 students at any given time. Graduates of the program have accepted positions of responsibility throughout the world in many disciplines. The majority of these are positions as consultants, university faculty, and researchers. |
