Description

The course will focus on the development a colorful and stylish public persona for the Visualization Laboratory through the creation of a yearly publication and website. The purpose of the course is to produce a traditional publication as well as a web based presence. These publications will highlight work created in the Viz Lab and replace the current Visualization Program catalog.

During the semester, we will read and discuss issues and philosophies of visual design, effective communication techniques of various media, and effects of technological advances. Students who take the course will gain experience in publishing both a traditional and a web based magazine. In addition, since this year's issue will be the first one, they will have a chance to create an everlasting impact on future issues, including creating new fonts, creating a new stylish design, and finding appropriate names for the magazines.
