Texas A&M Biocomplexity Project - MC1 Model Animation
Download MPeg Version of Animation with Audio
Our project involves constructing, animating, and simulating molecular-level mechanisms of how cells grow and divide. At this point, we are developing two such models, which we call mechanical cells. Our first mechanical cell consists of five genes and five types of enzymes.
These are encapsulated by a spherical membrane composed of many copies of a phospholipid molecule, P. The cell grows on one raw material called R. Two of the enzymes called E1 and E3 are membrane bound while three enzymes, E2, E4, and E5 are cytoplasmic.
