Float
A presence sensitive installation at Gaddis Geeslin Gallery,
Art Department, Sam Houston State University, Hunstville, Texas
February 21 through March 11, 2005
By AFEW Artists' Collaborative: Bill Jenks, Karen Hillier,
Carol LaFayette, and Mary Saslow.
Visitors enter a darkened hallway and pass by a small, backlit image.
Peering into this image triggers infrared capture of one's face. Your image
is floated next to others and composited with fluid colors, in an environment
resembling a river made from colored mesh, upon which currents of images flow.
Sounds of water are accompanied by organ music which seems to emanate from
behind a wall.
