Vinod's primary research interests are in the areas of 3D modeling, with emphasis on topological modeling and automatic and semi-automatic approaches. He is keen on expanding his research interests to include multi-disciplinary areas which combine computer graphics, architecture and engineering. Examples of such areas include physically based modeling and architectural visualization. He is also interested in the general topic of using multimedia and computer graphics for enhancing teaching at the high-school and college levels.

On the teaching side, Vinod is interested in developing coursework related to design and development of computer games and welcomes suggestions and ideas on the design and content of such courses.
