Placing Another Cache

Lately, I've been too busy to go out hunting for geocaches. Rob's friend, Jeannie (I guess I can refer to her as my friend now) and her husband have hidden some cleaver caches in the area, but I haven't searched for them yet. In the meantime, I decided to hide a cache in a nearby park. Jeannie was among the first to find it. afterward, she had to point out that I hid the container in a bunch of poison ivy! Hmmm...maybe I should relocate it.

LOST!!!

I still don't know how I did it, but I misplaced my ring! I always keep it in one of two places. *sigh* My number 1 pet peeve is not knowing/remembering where I put something. Just imagine how frustrated I was when that missing "thing" happened to be my Aggie Ring.

From NY to CS

Thanks to the Internet and email, I still remain in contact with a lot of friends who I haven't seen face-to-face in years. My old friend, Jefferson is one of those individuals. After graduating from TAMU in 2000, Jefferson worked in Houston for a while and then moved up to New York. He still lives in the Big Apple, working full-time and going to acting school. Friday, Jefferson flew into town to spend time with me, and some of his relatives who live near by. Jefferson is such a sweetheart. Too bad he lives so far away.

Did I Mention
I Lost My Ring?

Most of the time, I'm fairly easygoing. I don't know what it is like to obsess about something. BUT now I do! I couldn't stop thinking/looking for my ring. I searched everywhere for it but couldn't find it. Augh!!!

Viz Camp 2006

The last weekend in August marked the end of summer and the start of a new academic year. From 8:00AM to 11:30PM, Saturday turned into Viz Camp, our day-long orientation event for all the new Viz Students. I have a really good feeling about this batch of new students. It looks like this is going to be a fun year.

Crazy Students
Crazy Faculty
Viz Camp concluded with a social gathering for the new students to mix and mingle with the current students, faculty, and staff.

A Fun Night Out

Since this was the last weekend before classes were about to start, it was a given that Saturday evening would be a festive night. After the Viz party, Glenn, Jefferson, and I went out to Halo. While we were there, Jefferson experienced a mini-reunion with former classmates. When he wasn't busy catching up with old friends we were dancing our butts off. Too bad he lives so far away.

Jefferson, Jen, and Glenn

Sunday afternoon, we met up with Jen, one of Jefferson's best friends, for lunch. They used to be running-buddies when they both went to school at TAMU. After we ate, it was time to say good bye to Jefferson. In a matter of hours he was flying back to New York.

I FOUND IT

After digging through trash, going through every room in my house, my office, my car, friend's cars, and more.....I found my ring just a few feet from where I normally keep it. I thought it was gone forever. Needless to say, I did a happy dance when I found it.

Students Everywhere

I haven't seen any official numbers yet, but judging from the number of people on campus and the amount of traffic, I'd have to say enrollment numbers are up!

TAMU 3D

In the middle of the week, Mike, Tom, Joe, and I visited the Immersive Visualization Center. I've heard about this place, but I had never seen it before. The heart of the IVC is a 25'x8' curved screen powered by several high-end graphic servers for real-time 3D imaging of complex data-sets.

It can be used to visualize anything from molecules to entire planetary systems. You'd think this center would have been housed in our lab, but sometimes University politics dictate the outcome and placement of certain resources. *sigh* Oh well, that's the nature of things. Anyway, our visit was part of an "open house" the IVC was conducting to create awareness of the facility and promote visualization research.

College of Architecture 101

There's busy, and sometimes there's crazy-busy. The first week of classes was on the crazy side! To be honest, I like it that way. The days go by fast, and there's never a dull moment. Towards the end of this crazy week, the College of Arch held an informal celebration for its 101th birthday. It was just an excuse to eat junk food and welcome all the students back. I'm glad they're back...just wish they came WITHOUT the added traffic.
